The Howard M. Holtzmann Professor of Law at Yale Law School.

In addition, she is past president of the Middle East Studies Association (2023-2025) and co-chair of the Advisory Board for the Middle East Division of Human Rights Watch. Previously, she served as founding faculty director of the Promise Institute for Human Rights and as Director of the Center for Near Eastern Studies at UCLA, where she was also a professor of law. Her research examines public international law, particularly human rights law and the law of the international security order, and comparative constitutional law, with a focus on the Middle East.
